Kartik Bihani ("Finny," "we," "our," or "us") operates the Finny: AI Financial Advisor mobile application (the "Service").

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it is processed, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Account and Profile Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Name
  • Age
  • Occupation

This information is used to personalize your experience and provide context-aware financial insights.

Financial Information

When you connect financial accounts through Plaid or SnapTrade, we receive:

  • Account names
  • Account balances
  • Transaction history
  • Investment holdings (if applicable)

We do not collect or store banking usernames or passwords.

User Input and Chat Content

We collect:

  • Messages you send within the app
  • AI-generated responses
  • Contextual insights derived from conversations

Usage and Device Information

We collect limited technical data such as:

  • App interaction events
  • Feature usage
  • Crash logs
  • Device type and operating system version

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide automated budgeting and financial insights
  • Analyze transaction history to generate personalized recommendations
  • Respond to questions submitted in the app
  • Personalize AI-generated responses using profile context (such as age and occupation)
  • Improve functionality and reliability
  • Detect fraud, abuse, or misuse
  • Provide customer support

We do not sell personal information.

3. Financial Data Processing

Financial data connected through Plaid or SnapTrade is securely transmitted to our backend infrastructure.

We store:

  • Transaction history
  • Balances
  • Investment holdings

Financial data is used solely to provide budgeting tools, financial analysis, and AI-generated insights within the app.

We never store banking login credentials.

4. AI and Automated Processing

Finny uses artificial intelligence to analyze financial data and generate personalized responses.

To provide these features:

  • Transaction history, balances, structured financial summaries, goal details, and chat content may be processed by OpenRouter (including model providers routed through OpenRouter) to generate insights, responses, and goal analysis.
  • Supermemory.ai is used only to store memory from your interactions with Finny (such as chat snippets and goal context) to improve continuity of future responses. Raw financial transaction data is not transmitted to Supermemory.
  • Kartik Bihani acts as the data controller.
  • Third-party AI providers act solely as data processors on our behalf.

We require that AI providers:

  • Do not use submitted data to train models
  • Do not retain data beyond processing requirements
  • Maintain appropriate technical and organizational safeguards

AI-generated outputs are automated and provided for informational and educational purposes only.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate the Service:

  • Plaid Inc. – financial account connectivity
  • SnapTrade – investment account connectivity
  • Supabase – backend infrastructure and secure data storage
  • OpenRouter (Meta Llama models) – AI inference processing
  • Supermemory.ai – conversational memory processing

Supermemory.ai processes memory from user interactions with Finny (such as chat snippets and goal context). Raw financial transaction data is not transmitted to Supermemory.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard safeguards, including:

  • Encrypted transmission of financial data
  • Secure backend infrastructure
  • Role-based access controls
  • Separation of authentication and financial data systems

No system can guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal and financial data only as long as necessary to provide the Service or comply with legal obligations.

If you disconnect a financial account, associated financial data is removed from active processing.

If you delete your account within the app, your personal and financial data is permanently deleted from our production systems, subject to limited backup retention required for security and compliance purposes.

8. Your Rights

You may:

  • Disconnect connected financial accounts at any time
  • Delete your account directly within the app
  • Request access, correction, or export of your data

Account deletion permanently removes your stored data from active systems.

9. Children

The Service is intended for individuals who are at least 18 years old.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18.

If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated within the app or via email.
